Biographies of Exhibiting Artists

Author Brenda James Bio/ CV

My single status seems to weigh heavily on other women for some reason. The matchmakers became frustrated and said, "What do you want? " I made a list. The ideal man for this ol' country gal: Someone who can gracefully lie to me' a guitar player/song writer/story teller, a man who can use me for his own fun but never ever in a mean spirited way, a cigar smokin', gamblin' cowboy, loved and respected by his community, a good ol' dog that is sweet talkin' and appreciatin', and won't piss up on my front porch. The friends said, "What? "So I wrote the stories of the men whose qualities influenced the ideals I want in my man.

His metal creations vary from the serious to the whimsical. There are Barking Metal Planters and his Infamous Metal Catfish, perfect for any occasion. When you walk into the Green Door Art Gallery you will see his Iconic Metal hands holding up the lights in every direction. Truly brilliant work.

Artist Grace Walker Bio/ CV

Grace Walker was born and raised in La Grange Texas. She fell in love with her small town and it's historic architecture. So much so that after creating art for the past 45 years, she decided to start her own Art Gallery in her home town square so that she can see the Fayette County Courthouse every morning when she comes to work. Her ability to capture the nostalgic element that we all took for granted is really inspiring.

Quilter Linda W. Miles Bio/ CV

Linda was born in Houston on the day that the swallows return to Capistrano. Her conscious interest in art started in High School, where she was president of the Art Club her junior and senior years.

In college, her work was so well done that her favorite teacher never said a word when she brought in an old Army surplus wooden trash can to paint.

Post college, she bought a kiln and made ceramic jewelry. She taught herself to cross stitch, crochet and hook rugs.

In 1993, no one around her made quilts, so she is not sure where the desire to create them came from. She did her own research to become an expert self taught traditional quilt maker.

In 2001 she was made aware of the art quilt movement and has been experimenting since.
She has an eclectic taste in quilts and tends to alternate making art and traditional quilts. Although the traditional
tend to not always be done in a traditional fabric selection.  She has won numerous ribbons in the three local quilt guilds and even had a quilt hang in the Houston International Quilt Festival – besides selling quilts.

Inspiration is all around us, it just takes a creative mind to catch it.

The Jones Sisters Nancy, Barbara, and Sarah BIO/CV

These three amazing sisters have spent over a decade creating stained glass wind chimes and hanging glass sculptures. Among their collection of unique work you will find pieces made out of found objects. Each of the glass pieces are hand cut with each of the sharp pieces lightly gound to a curve. The stands and beads are strung together with stainless steel nylon coated wire. Much like your beloved pets, glass wind chimes should be brought in during VERY windy weather.

Artisan Jeff Cyr BIO/CV

Jeff Cyr is an accomplished

woodworker who handles every

treatment of the raw material for

his artisan furniture. He searches

trees that meet his vision. He cuts

the trees and mills the boards on his own sawmill near Fayetteville. He then further prepares the wood by planing and polishing the components to a soft lustrous oiled gloss. Jeff chooses and utilizes native Texas woods for his masterful creations. Fragrant, character-filled mesquite, deliciously simple pine, rugged post oak, honey-toned bois d'arc that mellows with age. Jeff produces benches, tables, mantels, and artistic serving boards for dining presentations.

Summer Miles has a growing passion for art and the goats themselves. They have co-created a business called Art Felt Prayers, Paintings and Sacreds. It is not unusual for them to be up in the late hours of the night, laughing and playing with all the different kinds of fiber and curls, creating these soft and cozy paintings. Their jounery together has brought about a original fine art experience. If you ask them what their favorite color is they will say "Rainbow".
